Approach
Fairport is making great strides, building on our successes, and enhancing our community, but there are always more ways to keep improving and realizing our vision. I will work to ensure that Fairport continues to be the gem of the Erie Canal. This means positioning Fairport to be resilient to what the future may hold. To do this I will advocate for an interactive government built on options. The points below outline the approach I will take while working through the challenges that we know of today as well as those that we don’t know about in the future as we work together to build a Fairport even better than before.
-
A mutual trust between community and government is essential. I will work to make sure we listen and chart what our community wants Fairport to look like in the future, and use this to determine the right opportunities to achieve our goals. I will work to open up more paths of communication with our neighborhoods and businesses. This can be through neighborhood meetings where village government can be brought to you. I will listen and be as frank as possible to discuss why we are talking about something, what it is, and how we want to accomplish it. I can’t always show exactly how the sausage is made, but I can say that we are working on something and make changes based on a dialogue with you.
-
When we have more options, we are more resilient. I will work to provide more options for places to live, places to work, places to relax, places to play, ways to get around. Not only will our village be able to handle more curve balls, our quality of life will also improve.
-
Folks who work here should be able to live here. People from all stages and backgrounds should also feel welcome in Fairport. Not only will this help our economic resiliency, we will become even more dynamic.
-
Our success is tied to the success of Rochester, and the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region. Funding for projects can often be acquired through positive relationships. I will work to continue to build relationships with our neighbors and our region to leverage these relationships so that we all benefit from a successful network of places.
